If you're looking for a unique postcard to add to your collection this would be it! How often will you find someone that says they have a waterproof postcard? I'm thinking of buying one to add to my collection.

Stationary, Violet Bank, and Postcards

Above are the Halloween cards I sent to my cousins for Halloween. Aren't they cute? I included the pictures below and a McDonalds gift card as a treat.

Cucumber Tree

Violet Bank Museum

I love history as much as my boyfriend does so we decided to visit the Violet Bank Museum. The admission was free and it's located not far from where we live. Aren't you amazed by the size of that cucumber tree as I am? I can't wait to see it in full bloom again.

The two postcards above are the ones I received through Postcrossing. On a side note I don't like receiving handmade postcards anymore and made a note on my profile about it. I wouldn't mind handmade postcards if people put some effort into it, but instead I posted a note that I no longer want to receive them. How disappointing is that?

Homemade stationary

My blog isn't just about postcards, homemade cards, and scrapbooking pages. I thought I'd share some stationary I made to send to my cousins. Isn't it perfect for Fall? In the last letter I sent I gave my cousin Olivia received homemade Tinkerbell stationary and Trevor received homemade Tigger stationary. I don't want to buy stationary anymore! I won't send out this stationary until after Halloween. I'm going to make some Halloween stationary tomorrow to send them over the weekend.

Hong Kong, Slovenia, and Slovakia

I received several postcards in the mail today! Can you believe my excitement when I received a bunch of personal swaps and an actual Postcrossing postcard? I love reading about the places my postcards are coming from. I've learned so much through trading on this site. I hope to share more very soon!

This card was my official Postcrossing card of the day! The part I love about this card is I can see how many miles it travelled to get here and that it only took a week to arrive. Don't you just fall in love with these views?

I received this card from (tinkara) Tina and I've traded some gorgeous postcards with her. She said the capital is Ljubljana, Triglau is the highest Slovenian mountain, Bled is the small island in the middle, and she mentioned the small local tavern.

I also received this card from Tina! I'm not sure which card I love more out of the ones she sent.

I received this card through the Postcrossing Forum as well and traded with joechui (his username). Doesn't this card make the city come to life?

New Jersey and New York Trades

On my trip to New Jersey with my boyfriend we made a stop so I could pick up some postcards for my collection and I made sure I got a bunch to trade with everyone.

Sweden, Slovenia, and the Philippines

It's always the best feeling in the world when you open the mailbox and there are postcards waiting for you. I was privileged to come home after my vacation in New Jersey and found out that I received three postcards in the mail! As everyone knows by now I ask everyone to write something interesting about the place I'm receiving the postcard from. The top left card is from Slovenia and had a lot of interesting information! (HRAD means castle) She then told me that they country has over 200 castles. Spissky Hrad is the sixth largest castle in the world according to UNESCO heritage. Trenciansky hrad  is located in the city where the individual I swapped with in the Postcrossing forum is from. The castle is from the fourteenth century and the castle never was conquered. Cachticky hrad had a countess that would bathe herself with the blood of young virgins with the intent she could remain young. Likavsky hrad is the former jail and Bratislavsky hrad is the capital city. The picture of the capital city is on Slovak euro coins.

The top right postcard is from Banawe, Ifugao Province in the Philippines. I received this postcard through a personal swap in the Postcrossing forum as well. Maria told me in her note on the bck that the Igorot people used to be head hunters in ancient times, but says now they're peace-loving people who calue their freedom.

The bottom card as you can tell in the picture is from Sweden and I received this card through the Postcrossing website itself. Dace wrote that the card shows North of Sweden where indigenous people called Sami live.

Taiwan

I've received my first postcard from Taiwan! Isn't it amazing?

1. Mt. Ali or Alishan does not belong to Yushan National Park. Alishan is next to Yushan National Park, but not inside the National Park.

2. The Couple trees. The correct name is Husband and Wife trees or complete name: The Tatajia Husband and Wife trees. Husband and Wife trees are conjoined trees:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inosculation

(see below, the 'Example' - you will find an article about Husband and Wife trees, including Tatajia)

3. Although the word Mt. Ali is displayed on the front of the postcard, but the Husband and Wife trees does not belong to Mt. Ali. These trees are within Yushan National Park.

Therefore, your Taiwan card has no relation with Mt. Ali.

This postcard has been taken out of production long since I received it.

Thank you to a fellow Postcrosser for the information!

Hello Mississippi!!!

I received this postcard over the weekend from a private swap I did through the Postcrossing Forum. Isn't oy amazing? I've got eleven more states to go before my postcard collection is complete. After that I'll keep trading and learning about other countries. I love learning interesting facts about where each postcard comes from. Thanks Jen (jennifg) for trading with me!

My Trades

The following are the postcards that I'm willing to trade for personal swaps... Please let me know what interests you and a link to what you're able to trade. If you don't have a link of your trades I can gladly send you a description of what I collect.

Poland, Germany, and London!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine my excitement seeing what I received in the mail after work today? I received three postcards and each postcard was from a different country. I can't wait to add these to my collection that's steadily growing. I only need eleven more states to complete my state collection and then I'm going to need to decide what I'll collect next. I absolutely love these postcards!!!!

Each postcard has some interesting history/facts on the back that each person shared about where the postcard was coming from. I can honestly say with certainty that you do learn something new everyday! I didn't know that Sir Charles Gilbert designed the red phone booths, that they came about about in in a 1924 competition, or that they're seen in in current as well as former British colonies across the world. I thought they were just in the UK!

The place in the Poland postcard used to be a watering place and now it's located in a region of coal mines!

The card from Germany said that Emlichheim has only 14,343 inhabitants! She said the photos on the postcard are old, bt I absolutely love it.

I hope everyone learned something new by reading this post and I hope you enjoy the postcards.

Personal Swap with Angela (GhostAngel)

Received from Germany through Postcrossing! Thanks Leonie!!!

Personal Swap with Marta from Poland (goodestly)

First Postcrossing Experience (October 4, 2011)

I can't believe I haven't posted these yet! The Indiana and Missouri postcards I received through private swaps in the Postcrossing forum and the last card I received via Postcrossing. Aren't they amazing? If you don't know I'm trying to collect all 50 states and I'm collecting countries as well. I collect cards that show something specific from where I'm receiving it from. At this very moment I've got several private swaps out there travelling to their destinations and I'm looking forward to everything I'm going to see when I open up my mailbox! There's no better thrill than opening up your mailbox and realizing you've received a postcard from half way around the world. Now I'm off to go add them to my collection! I seperated and organized all of my postcards today into four photo boxes. Two were for my Go Cards, one was saved for my state and country postcards, and the last one was saved for the cards I'm willing to trade. The process seemed to take forever, but I enjoyed looking through my collection. More cards to come soon!

World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop

I hope that everyone is enjoying themselves in the blog hop so far! I hope you're not too tired of clicking and scrolling through blogs yet. For the card I created I decided to use some unconventional colors. I love how it all comes together in the end though. All of the paper came from my stash and this stamp set is one of my favorites. I colored the image using Prisma color pencils and by using scrapbooking markers.
